Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Assistant to support the upkeep and functionality of our facilities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in building maintenance, mechanical and electrical systems, and possess excellent problem-solving skills. As a Maintenance Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring that all facilities operate smoothly, safely, and efficiently. This position offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic team committed to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. Duties Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical equipment, and facilities infrastructure. Utilize hand tools, schematics, and electrical testing devices such as ohmmeters to diagnose and repair issues effectively. Conduct repairs on electrical systems, plumbing systems, HVAC units, and mechanical equipment to ensure optimal operation. Assist with building interior maintenance tasks such as painting, carpentry, and general facilities upkeep. Support the supervision of maintenance projects, including coordinating with vendors or contractors when necessary. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections for compliance and reporting purposes. Ensure adherence to safety protocols during all maintenance activities while promoting a safe working environment for team members. Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to maintenance requests from staff or residents. Qualifications Proven experience in facilities maintenance or related field with knowledge of electrical work, plumbing, HVAC system repair, and mechanical systems. Familiarity with schematics, electrical equipment repair, plumbing system maintenance and repair, and HVAC systems is essential. Experience working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), welding techniques, and electrical troubleshooting tools such as ohmmeters. Strong mechanical knowledge combined with proficiency in using hand tools for various repair tasks. Demonstrated leadership or supervising experience in maintenance operations is preferred. Excellent communication skills in English to effectively document work orders and collaborate with team members. Knowledge of maintenance painting, carpentry, building interior maintenance, and facilities equipment upkeep is highly desirable. Ability to interpret technical schematics and perform complex repairs independently or as part of a team. $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
