JOB SUMMARY
Hybrid position to run the Drop and to assist
Public Works The Drop:
The Town of Fraser is looking for a service attendant to operate The Drop, Fraser's Pay As You Throw (PAYT) Trash and Recycling Facility. Service attendant will open and close The Drop, maintain housekeeping and administrative standards, and provide a high level of customer service. The Drop days would be Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm with paid lunch hour. Public Works Streets Laborer (
Parks and Recreation:
This position provides a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled laboring tasks in support of the operation and maintenance of Town streets, roadways, rights of ways, parks, trails, drainage facilities, and other Town infrastructure. Working days would be Thursday and Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm with an unpaid lunch.
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO
Open and close The Drop. Pick up trash as needed and maintain facility grounds. Monitor, educate and enforce recycling and trash drop off standards. Implement traffic control and safety procedures. Sell PAYT trash bags to customers. Manage PAYT trash bag inventory. Submit daily reports as directed. Maintain clear communication with Town Staff with concerns, questions and suggestions. Collaborate with other local vendors, businesses and community stakeholders to expand recycling opportunities. Breaks - Lunch while attending The Drop is normally considered a paid lunch; an unpaid, duty-free lunch can be coordinated with Supervisor and approved based on availability of coverage. Assist with general maintenance and repair on all streets and sidewalks to include installation and repair of signage, delineators, patching, painting, sweeping, traffic control, streetlights, traffic signals, bridges, culverts and drainage areas, noxious weed control, as well as trash and debris removal. Park general maintenance and repairs on playground equipment, fencing, shelters, benches and tables, signage, lighting, statue bases, trash receptacles, bridges, railings, and stairs. Trail maintenance and repairs to include grooming of gravel paths and patching of asphalt path widths and shoulders, fencing, bridges, railings, signage, benches, tables, trash receptacles and landscaping materials. Building maintenance may include minor repairs, including application of paint & stain Performs a variety of laboring activities including the use of hand tools, light power equipment and maintenance equipment. Operates light duty equipment to perform related maintenance and construction Maintain work areas, shop, grounds, office, restrooms and common use areas in a neat and orderly fashion. Maintains a safe working environment to include working in traffic and congested areas, working in ditches and confined spaces and all work environments. Assist Gardening Crew & Utilities Department as needed. Perform a variety of duties that require considerable knowledge of the use and wear of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Perform pre & post trip vehicle inspection to include cleaning & fueling. Perform special projects and miscellaneous duties such as event and function set-ups a as directed by a supervisor. RESPONSIBILITIES
Promote a professional, cooperative and problem-solving atmosphere. Arrive to work per posted schedule, and in appropriate attire. Conduct all business in a professional and courteous manner and may occasionally be required to teach or give instruction to co-workers. Ensure the safety of all staff, citizens and Town owned property by reporting unsafe conditions and/or suspicious activity to the Supervisor, PWD or Town Manager. Follow all administrative and operating procedures. Ability to work holidays, weekends and weekdays (
Current Drop Schedule:
Wed, Sat, Sun 10 A.M. to 6 P.M.). Moderate computer skills for submitting basic reports and selling bags. Working with the other Public Works staff, install, maintain and repair Town owned assets to ensure they are in safe and functional condition. Promote a professional, cooperative and problem-solving atmosphere. Arrive to work per posted schedule, and in appropriate attire. Have the ability to adhere to weekend and on-call scheduling as posted. Conduct all business in a professional and courteous manner and may occasionally be required to teach, or give instruction to co-workers. Ensure the safety of all staff, citizens and Town owned property by reporting unsafe conditions and/or suspicious activity to the Street Superintendent, Public Works Director or Town Manager.
EXPERIENCE
Waste diversion programs preferred.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
This is a line staff position that reports to the Street Superintendent and receives frequent supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED. Valid Driver's License, insurable driving record required. This will be a non-CDL position. Good communication and organizational skills are a must. Must be self-motivated, work autonomously and with others. Must be able to use and operate the following: telephone, calculator and two-way radio. Candidates should have working knowledge of the following equipment: hand and power tools such as hammers, saws, lawnmower, weed trimmer, water pumps and chemical spray equipment, both manual and power. Good vision and hearing (with corrections ok). Requires continual standing, sitting, walking, stooping, crouching, bending, reaching, fingering, handling, shoveling, kneeling and eye-hand coordination. Must be able to lift and carry weights of approximately 50 lbs. and, push and/or pull weights of approximately 150 lbs. Must be able to work safely in areas subject to high traffic volumes. Environmental conditions range from extreme heat and cold to wet and humid, mold, noise, dust and Must be able to safely handle industrial and hazardous chemicals.
PAY AND BENEFITS
The anticipated hiring range for this non-exempt position is $19.00 to $23.00 an hour and is dependent on experience and qualifications. This is a full-time, year-round position eligible for all Town benefits. The town reserves the right to revise and change job duties as the need arises.
