Full-time Maintenance Worker I Hiring Range:
$23.75-$28.58/hourly. Maximum pay $37.16.
Maintenance Worker II Hiring Range:
$29.82- $34.30/hourly. Maximum pay $44.59

General Statement of Duties:
The Maintenance Worker I or II performs a variety of physically demanding tasks associated with the maintenance and improvement of the Town's infrastructure. Work includes manual labor, heavy lifting, and extended periods of physical activity in outdoor environments under all weather conditions. The Worker is responsible for assisting in the upkeep of town streets, sewers, parks, public buildings, and equipment.
Supervision:
Reports to and works under the general supervision of the Director of Public Works.
Work Environment:
Work is primarily outside and done under varied weather conditions, hours and days (including weekends and holidays). Maintenance Worker I Duties
  • Performs a variety of manual labor tasks in the construction, repair, and maintenance of streets, sidewalks, alleys, storm drains, water/sewer systems, parks, and public facilities.
  • Operates light equipment and tools such as pickup trucks, trailers, snow blowers, mowers, weed trimmers, jackhammers, and compactors.
  • Assists in the operation of larger equipment (dump trucks, loaders, plows) under close supervision or training.
  • Performs basic traffic control setup , including placing cones, barricades, and signs around work zones.
  • Assists in snow and ice control , including shoveling, sanding, and operating smaller snow removal equipment.
  • Performs routine maintenance on vehicles, equipment, and tools (refueling, cleaning, lubrication, minor adjustments).
  • Loads and unloads materials such as gravel, asphalt, salt/sand, construction debris, and supplies.
  • Participates in general facility and grounds maintenance , including landscaping, painting, carpentry, and minor building repairs.
  • Responds to after-hours emergencies or on-call duties as assigned (e.g., water breaks, storm response, snow events).
  • Follows all safety procedures and uses personal protective equipment as required.

  • Performs skilled work in the operation of heavy trucks and equipment such as dump trucks, loaders, graders, backhoes, and snow plows in the maintenance of streets, utilities, and public facilities.
  • Independently operates snow and ice control equipment, including dump/plow trucks with spreaders, underbody scrapers, and related attachments, during storm events.
  • Conducts roadway and drainage maintenance, including grading, patching, compacting, ditch cleaning, culvert repair, and sign installation.
  • Installs and repairs water and sewer lines, valves, hydrants, and manholes as directed; may assist in utility locates and leak response.
  • Trains and guides Maintenance Worker I employees and seasonal staff in proper work methods and safety practices.
  • Maintains accurate work logs and service reports for equipment use, materials, and completed tasks.
  • Ensures compliance with Town safety policies, CDOT work zone safety standards, and applicable OSHA requirements.
Maintenance Worker I Qualifications Required:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Some experience in construction, maintenance, landscaping, or related labor work (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Valid Colorado driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
  • Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B within 6-12 months of hire
  • Basic knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials used in construction, repair, and maintenance of streets, utilities, parks, or facilities
  • Ability to safely operate light equipment such as pickup trucks, mowers, snow blowers, and power tools
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Willingness to work in all weather conditions including snowstorms, cold, heat, and at high altitudes
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the public
  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor, including lifting up to 50-75 pounds

  • Two or more years of experience in construction, maintenance, utility, or public works operations (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Possession of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B at time of hire (Class A may be required for certain equipment)
  • Demonstrated ability to operate trucks and heavy equipment such as dump trucks, loaders, backhoes, graders, and snow plows
  • Working knowledge of traffic control procedures and safe work zone practices
  • Knowledge of methods, materials, and tools used in street, water, sewer, and storm drainage maintenance and repair
  • Ability to perform routine servicing and minor maintenance on vehicles and equipment
  • Ability to read and follow maps, diagrams, and work orders
FLSA Status:
Non-Exempt This position supersedes the previously posted job position of Public Works Maintenance Technician. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the position is filled.
