Job Description

Job Description The Hammonasset Fishing Association is a hunting and fishing club and the Assistant to the Foreman supports the Foreman with daily club operations, grounds maintenance, event preparation, equipment upkeep, property checks, and member-service needs. This position assists with special projects, and general maintenance across the Association's property. The ideal candidate should be reliable, hardworking, safety-conscious, and technically inclined, with the ability to troubleshoot basic mechanical, equipment, and property-related issues as needed. A valid driver's license and a background check are required for this position. Duties and Responsibilities The successful candidate will help the foreman maintain the roads, trails, fields, ponds, streams, buildings, ranges, parking areas, and other club facilities to ensure they remain safe, clean, and accessible. Also, the assistant to the foreman will help prepare for club events, shoots, meetings, dinners, fishing and hunting events. Duties may include setup, cleanup, stocking supplies, and general event assistance while providing courteous, respectful, and professional assistance to all members, guests, and vendors, while helping to maintain a positive club experience. Expectations include consistent communication with the club foreman including reporting completed work, maintenance concerns, safety issues, equipment problems, and supply needs in a timely and accurate manner. Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience operating—or willingness to learn—tractors, mowers, utility vehicles, trailers, tools, and small equipment, with basic grounds-maintenance and mechanical knowledge preferred.
  • Comfortable working in an outdoor club environment that includes hunting, fishing, shooting sports, member events, and land-management activities.
  • Reliable, and self-directed, with the ability to work independently
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written, and email)
  • Basic computer proficiency (MS Word, MS Excel)
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability walk uneven terrain, and perform physical labor
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Background check required
Compensation and Benefits Wage:
$25-$32 per hour, based on experience (35 hours per week; additional hours must be pre-approved)Occasional overtime, evening and weekend work may be required.
Medical:
Reimbursement for a portion of the employee's medical coverage through another health insurance plan, up to $50 per paycheck
Retirement:
Annual 401(k) employer match of up to $1,000
Paid Time Off:
Three weeks annually, with up to one week carried over to the following year
Paid Holidays:
Eight paid holidays; employees required to work on a designated holiday will be paid twice their regular hourly rate
Pay:
$25.00 - $32.00 per hour Expected hours: 35.0 per week
