A Maintenance Helper or Assistant assists maintenance mechanics. Repairs and maintains equipment and machines, such as cars or heating systems. May assemble or adjust machines as directed by a head mechanic.

Purpose Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, the Environmental Services Worker assists with the cleaning and maintenance of the various Columbus House facilities in New Haven, Wallingford and Middletown as assigned. Duties and Responsibilities Clean and maintain grounds including but not limited to grass cutting, shrub pruning, snow removal and de-icing Reliably and safely transport other staff, materials, supplies and tools as required throughout the state of Connecticut Clean and maintain all interior spaces including kitchens, bathrooms, offices, dining areas, residential spaces and common areas Remove trash Complete all required documentation and reporting Participate in staff meetings as directed. Other related duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required High School Graduate or equivalent Able to follow directions and accept supervision Excellent organizational and time management skills with a deadline oriented mindset Basic computer skills for time keeping and email purposes Culturally competent; must possess the capacity to work within a team and foster teamwork Strong empathic skills coupled with a high degree of reliability and punctuality Valid Driver's license with a good driving record Supervised by:
