ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Work is performed under minimal supervision and varies in the combination of trade practices that are performed in different work situations throughout the E-OMS contract. Despite the variety of combinations, two main elements of the job are constant. The work requires the application of skilled trade practices. The General Maintenance Worker performs a variety of tasks involved in the construction and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and related structures, fixtures, and utilities. Typical work assignments include the performance of visual examinations and operational tests to determine the need for, and the performance of, repair work.
GENERAL DUTIES
The General Maintenance Worker performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge (but not proficiency) in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. Work involves a variety of the following duties: replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors, using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings, repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, and toilets painting structures and equipment; repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks, replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles, hanging doors and installing door locks, replacing broken window panes, and performing general maintenance on equipment and machinery. Job functions may also include controlling range test areas and/or repairs to towers, involving replacement of cross-members, bolts, and other tower hardware.
OTHER DUTIES
Other functions include guidance or instructions to lesser skilled personnel and general housekeeping of assigned work area. May be required to perform housekeeping duties to assigned work areas.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Incumbents must have either: Formal training, acquired through vocational certification or military service school training or a certified apprenticeship program, in at least one of the following disciplines: carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, cement work, concrete strength testing, range controlling, surveying, hydraulics, tower maintenance, small engine repair or painting, and 3 years of combined experience in at least two of the trades mentioned above., or 5 years verifiable experience in at least two of the following disciplines: carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, cement work, range controlling, surveying, hydraulics, tower maintenance, or painting. Required to have a CDL. Heavy equipment experience preferred.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
This position requires a Secret security clearance. Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. May be required to work overtime, shift work, weekends, and/or holidays. May be required to handle hazardous material/hazardous waste. All selected candidates must undergo and successfully pass a background investigation and drug test as a condition of placement into this position. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement. Will be required to obtain and maintain a forklift license. May be required to operate heavy machinery such as excavators, bulldozers, and skid steer.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Will be required to work outside most of the time and may be subjected to extreme environmental conditions including noise, fumes, dust, vibrations, and temperatures.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical effort required consists of crawling, bending, stooping, standing, and working in various strained positions for a considerable period. Close hand and eye coordination is required in performing many varied tasks. The ability to work at heights may be required.
