Job Description

SUMMARY Under the general supervision of the Parks & Facilities Supervisor, the Parks Service Specialist will perform a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled work in the maintenance, repair, and improvement of Village parks, facilities, grounds, and related infrastructure. The Parks Service Specialist is responsible for general maintenance duties including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, construction repairs, equipment maintenance, and event support to ensure safe, clean, and functional park facilities for residents and visitors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The omission of an essential work task does not prevent management from assigning duties not listed if such functions logically fit the position. Duties may include, but are not limited to: Perform general park and facility maintenance, repair, and preventative maintenance. Conduct plumbing repairs including sinks, toilets, irrigation components, valves, and minor pipe repairs. Perform basic electrical maintenance including lighting repairs, fixture replacement, troubleshooting outlets, and minor wiring repairs (within scope of qualifications). Complete carpentry and construction-related repairs including fencing, pavilions, benches, playground structures, and park amenities. Assist with small construction and renovation projects. Maintain athletic fields, playgrounds, landscaping, and grounds. Inspect parks and facilities for safety hazards and correct deficiencies. Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and light to medium-duty equipment. Assist with event setup and breakdown including tents, tables, barricades, staging, and equipment. Maintain maintenance logs and work order documentation. Respond to maintenance emergencies as needed. Ensure compliance with Village safety standards and policies. Provide courteous assistance to residents and park users. Work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned.
