Summary:
The Driver / Maintenance Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the assisted living facility. This dual-role position involves safely transporting residents to appointments, activities, and events while also assisting with general maintenance tasks to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors. Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Driver Duties Safely transport residents to medical appointments, outings, and other scheduled activities. Assist residents in and out of vehicles, ensuring safety and comfort at all times. Maintain a clean, organized, and well-maintained facility vehicle fleet, including regular inspections and scheduling servicing. Follow all traffic laws and facility transportation policies to ensure safety. Communicate with residents and staff regarding transportation schedules and any delays or changes. Keep accurate records of trips, mileage, and vehicle maintenance. Maintenance Assistant Duties Assist with routine maintenance tasks such as light plumbing, electrical work, painting, and carpentry. Perform regular safety inspections of facility equipment, systems, and communal spaces. Address minor repairs promptly and report major issues to the Facilities Manager. Ensure the grounds are well-maintained, including landscaping, snow removal, and debris clearing as needed. Respond to emergency maintenance requests in a timely manner. Assist with moving furniture, setting up event spaces, and general facility upkeep.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Experience in maintenance, facilities management, or a similar role is preferred. Prior experience working in an assisted living or healthcare setting is a plus. Skills and Abilities Excellent driving skills with knowledge of vehicle safety and maintenance. Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance practices. Strong organizational and time management skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact respectfully with residents, staff, and visitors. Ability to lift, move, and carry heavy objects up to [specific weight]. Flexible and adaptable to a dynamic work environment. Working Conditions Combination of indoor and outdoor work environments. Frequent interaction with residents who may require patience and understanding. May include evening, weekend, and on-call shifts as needed. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and drive for extended periods. Capable of bending, lifting, and performing tasks requiring manual dexterity.
