Job Description

CLOSE DATE:
July 9, 2026•This class is a civilian position that supervises laundry workers and inmate workers, including inspecting work, laundry inventory, and observation of inmates to prevent introduction or spread of contraband. This is a "mandatory testing" position that requires Drug Testing.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Supervises and inspects the work of inmates working in the laundry area; ensures compliance with applicable rules and regulations Supervises inmate workers while facilitating linen exchanges Supervises and direct other laundry workers Participates in general maintenance activities, including debris removal, clean-up, and materials handling Recommends work assignments for inmate workers Maintains key control and accountability of security equipment Collects dirty linens and issues clean linens for inmates Other duties may include sweeping floors; dusting; mopping, buffing, and vacuuming floors; and/or, performing other related activities Performs other duties of a similar nature or level
TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Training and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.), and three years of work experience relating to laundry maintenance and care; or, a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid driver's license from state of residence Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities and Other Characteristics (KSAOs): management principles with regards to inmate worker assignments good observation and communication skills in order to maintain security of institution leadership and communication skills ability to work autonomously while multi-tasking multiple assignments must possess good organizational skills monitoring inmates performing work monitoring compliance with department policies and procedures making appropriate recommendations regarding inmate work assignments within the laundry unit communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
County-wide Employee Responsibilities:

Emergency Management Responsibilities:
During emergency conditions, the incumbent of this position will automatically be considered an emergency service worker. This employee is subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation and is expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
Positions in this class typically require climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Very Heavy Work:
Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
