Job Description
Job Summary Our school is seeking a motivated and dependable Janitorial, Custodian, or Maintenance Worker to keep our facilities clean, safe, and well-maintained. In this vital role, you will be responsible for performing a variety of cleaning, custodial, and maintenance tasks to ensure a pristine environment for staff and visitors alike. Your proactive approach will help uphold our high standards of cleanliness and safety across all areas of our property. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with janitorial experience or a background in facilities maintenance to showcase their skills in a dynamic setting. Responsibilities Perform thorough cleaning of offices, restrooms, hallways, and common areas using appropriate cleaning agents and equipment. Handle chemical agents safely and responsibly, following all safety protocols and handling procedures. Operate floor buffers, polishers, and other equipment to maintain high-quality floor care including buffing, stripping, and waxing. Conduct industrial cleaning tasks such as deep cleaning of machinery or large surfaces as needed. Assist with general maintenance duties including minor repairs, painting (residential or commercial), and upkeep of facility fixtures. Lift heavy objects safely during manual handling tasks such as moving furniture or equipment to prevent injury. Follow safe lifting practices and use proper techniques to avoid strain or accidents during heavy lifting activities. Maintain detailed records of cleaning schedules, maintenance activities, and supply inventories to ensure operational efficiency. Skills Proven experience in commercial or industrial cleaning environments with strong custodial skills. Knowledge of proper chemical handling procedures and safety standards related to cleaning agents. Ability to operate floor buffers, polishers, and other custodial equipment effectively. Skilled in heavy lifting with an understanding of safe lifting practices to prevent injury. Experience with facilities maintenance tasks such as minor repairs, painting, and general upkeep. Familiarity with industrial cleaning techniques and residential painting is a plus. Strong attention to detail combined with the ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced settings.
