Job Description
Performs skilled maintenance and construction work at the journeyman level across multiple trades. Responsible for general repairs, facility renovations, preventive maintenance, and support of electrical and infrastructure needs within park and city facilities. Ensures all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable standards. Perform general carpentry repairs and renovation work. Complete minor plumbing repairs, including: Repairing valves and faucets Replacing broken bathroom fixtures Unstopping sinks, toilets, and drain lines Perform floor and wall tile repairs. Renovate and replace park bathrooms, partitions, and walls. Conduct general maintenance and cleaning of facilities. Paint small structures, park benches, and tables. Perform routine electrical repairs, including: Building light fixtures and ballasts Electrical boxes and switches Operate a bucket truck to replace: Street light lamps and ballasts Ball field lighting as needed Perform high-voltage street light repairs under the supervision of a city-licensed Electrician. Conduct routine and preventive maintenance for all facilities. Perform other related duties as required. Education High school diploma or equivalent. Experience Considerable experience in building maintenance and repair in one or more trades at the journeyman level. Experience and efficiency in the operation of a personal computer is required. Licenses/Certifications Valid Florida driver's license. Class "B" CDL driver's license preferred. Key Competencies Knowledge of occupational hazards and trade safety practices. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to maintain accurate maintenance logs. Ability to interpret blueprints, sketches, and oral and written instructions. Physical Requirements Labor-intensive position requiring frequent walking, standing, climbing, bending, kneeling, stooping, pushing, and pulling. Ability to perform moderate lifting regularly and heavy lifting occasionally; must be able to hear, speak, and see effectively. Regular exposure to loud noises, fumes, gases, odors, machinery hazards, and adverse weather conditions.
