The Maintenance Assistant will support the Maintenance Director with the upkeep, repair, safety, and overall appearance of the facility to help provide a safe, comfortable environment for our residents, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate is hands-on, reliable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in a healthcare environment. Key Responsibilities Assist with routine maintenance and repairs throughout the facility. Perform basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance tasks. Assist with preventive maintenance of equipment, fixtures, doors, windows, and other facility components. Help maintain resident rooms, common areas, offices, and outdoor areas in safe and good working condition. Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders. Assist with inspections and identification of potential safety hazards. Help maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment. Assist with facility emergency preparedness and maintenance-related emergency procedures. Support the Maintenance Director with projects and daily maintenance activities. Follow all facility policies, safety procedures, infection-control requirements, and applicable regulations. Maintain respectful and professional interactions with residents, families, visitors, and coworkers. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous experience in building maintenance, facility maintenance, construction, or a related field preferred. Skilled nursing, assisted living, hospital, or other healthcare facility experience is a plus. Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and general repairs preferred. Ability to safely use common hand and power tools. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic. Ability to communicate effectively with residents, staff, and management. Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying, and climbing as needed.
