Job Description
Position Summary We are seeking a dependable and skilled Maintenance Assistant to join our team at a skilled nursing facility. The Maintenance Assistant will support the day-to-day upkeep of the building, grounds, equipment, and resident areas to help ensure a safe, clean, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for our residents, visitors, and staff. Key Responsibilities Assist with routine building maintenance, repairs, and preventive maintenance. Perform basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general repair tasks. Inspect resident rooms, common areas, equipment, and facility grounds for maintenance needs. Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders. Assist with maintaining heating, air conditioning, lighting, plumbing, and other building systems. Help keep grounds, walkways, entrances, and other exterior areas safe and well maintained. Assist with emergency maintenance situations as directed. Maintain maintenance tools, supplies, and equipment in an organized and safe manner. Follow facility safety procedures, infection-control practices, and applicable regulations. Work cooperatively with nursing, housekeeping, dietary, administration, and other departments. Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Director or Administrator. Qualifications Previous experience in building maintenance, facilities maintenance, construction, or a related field preferred. Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general repairs. Ability to safely use common hand and power tools. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team. Good communication and customer-service skills. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment as required. Previous experience in a healthcare, nursing home, assisted living, or long-term-care environment is a plus.
