Description Chatham County Facilities Maintenance has an opening for Maintenance Worker IV. If you have vocational or technical school training and at least one (1) year of experience in general maintenance, we encourage you to apply. Examples of Duties Perform routine to semi-skilled maintenance and repair work on buildings, equipment, grounds, and related facilities, including carpentry, painting, mechanical, plumbing, heating and air conditioning, custodial, or other maintenance projects. Perform various electrical tasks such as installing electrical receptacles and switches, repairing electrical components, tripping/replacing breakers, or replacing light bulbs and ballasts. Perform various plumbing tasks such as installing/repairing plumbing fixtures, clearing/unstopping water lines and drains, repairing commodes, repairing plumbing leaks, and maintaining/repairing sprinkler systems. Perform various tasks involving maintenance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, check the temperature on HVAC units, maintain HVAC systems, clean fans and condenser coils, clean/replace filters, lubricate and replace bearings, and adjust and replace belts. Perform various tasks involving general building maintenance, carpentry, or construction projects, paint interior/exterior surfaces, install, adjust, and repair doors and hardware, replace windows, doors, and glass panes, lubricate hardware, and will assemble, repair, install or move tables, cabinets, shelving, or furniture. May instruct others to perform tasks. Must be available for on-call duty during non-working hours, holidays, and weekends and use personal transportation to respond. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED, and Vocational or technical school training, and At least one (1) year of experience in general maintenance; or Any equivalent combination of training and experience. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must provide and wear approved steel toe protective footwear during regular working hours. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in multiple skilled crafts. During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team. In accordance with the Department of Transportation, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) holders and those employed in safety-sensitive positions are subject to random drug testing. Candidates with direct and relevant experience may receive an offer of up to 10% above the minimum salary that is posted, reflecting their exceptional qualifications.
