Job Description

Position Summary Performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled duties related to the maintenance, repair, and improvement of city parks, streets, sidewalks, public facilities, and other municipal infrastructure. Operates equipment, performs manual labor, and responds to emergencies as needed to ensure the safe and efficient operation of City services. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Parks Maintenance
  • Mow, trim, fertilize, aerate, and irrigate parks and landscaped areas.
  • Plant, prune, and maintain trees, shrubs, flowers, and other vegetation.
  • Maintain playgrounds, picnic areas, shelters, restrooms, and park amenities.
  • Install and repair fencing, signs, benches, tables, and recreational equipment.
  • Remove snow and ice from sidewalks, parking lots, and park facilities. Streets and Public Works May assist with Snow removal and Public Works duties when needed. Equipment Operation
  • Operate pickups, dump trucks, tractors, mowers, skid steers, backhoes, loaders, and excavators.
  • Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and minor repairs on equipment.
  • Report equipment deficiencies and maintenance needs. General Maintenance
  • Perform building and facility maintenance.
  • Maintain City-owned vehicles, shops, and storage areas.
  • Assist with construction and capital improvement projects.
  • Set up and remove equipment for community events.
  • Maintain accurate work records and complete assigned reports. Emergency Response
  • Participate in emergency response activities, including storms, flooding, and other public emergencies.
  • Participate in rotating on-call schedules as required.
  • Work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime when necessary. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of maintenance practices for parks, streets, and public facilities.
  • Ability to safely operate a variety of hand and power tools and heavy equipment.
  • Ability to read maps, work orders, and basic construction plans.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety practices and OSHA standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills. Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid Idaho Driver's License
  • Experience in construction, landscaping, equipment operation, utilities, or municipal maintenance is preferred. Physical Requirements
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Walk, stand, kneel, crouch, climb, bend, and work in confined spaces.
  • Operate heavy equipment and power tools.
  • Work outdoors in extreme temperatures and adverse weather conditions.
  • Occasionally work at heights or in trenches using appropriate safety equipment. Working Conditions
  • Outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • Exposure to dust, noise, chemicals, traffic, and moving equipment.
  • May require weekend, holiday, overtime, and emergency response work.
Pay:
$21.00 - $23.00 per hour
