Hours:
This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week. This position may require non-traditional work hours at various times throughout the year. A typical schedule is five weekdays from 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Work may include evenings, weekends and holidays on occasion along with assisting with special event throughout the year. Overtime may be required as necessary. Job Summary Assorted maintenance/repair work assigned by the Township Supervisor or Maintenance Foreman for Homer Township parks, rental facilities, senior housing, equipment and other properties. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities Includes, but not limited to, lawn care; weed and trash removal; restroom care; painting; building maintenance and snow removal. Operates various types of heavy, light, and complex equipment used in the maintenance of the Township's properties, facilities, senior apartments, parks, etc. Performs maintenance work such as cleaning park facilities including restrooms pavilions, painting, trash disposal, etc. Assists in care and planting of turf, trees, shrubs, flowers, and natural areas. Ensure work orders are completed for every job and ensure materials are available for assigned tasks. Solves problems related to field projects and locations. Communicate effectively with all internal and external stakeholders. Ensures that projects stay on approved schedule. Ensures that standards and time frames are adhered to. Decide which tools are needed and order the necessary materials. Properly maintains and monitors a Township supplied cell phone; remains "On- Call," "Duty -Ready," and able to report to work within forty-five (45) minutes of being notified throughout the winter months. Follows safety protocols to ensure public and employee health and safety. Resolves resident complaints. Attend training seminars as required. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements High School diploma or equivalent A minimum of five (5) years previous experience and/or training that includes horticulture, park maintenance, facility maintenance, and vehicle/equipment maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Any work-related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the aboverequired knowledge, skills, and abilities is an acceptable substitute for the abovespecified education and experience requirements. Must possess and maintain a State of Illinois Driver's License. Abilities required Ability to perform manual labor and heavy lifting (approx. 50 lbs.) Tolerance of excessive weather and outside working conditions OSHA safety requirements and standards Safely and efficiently operate and maintain township equipment (such as lawn mowers, string trimmer, snowplow, snow blowers and other township equipment/vehicles) Excellent customer service skills and conflict resolution General construction practices and procedures Demonstrated knowledge and ability to make plumbing, electrical, painting, and carpentry installations and repairs. Familiarity and understanding of general grounds procedures for the care and upkeep of turf, irrigation, trees, and shrubs. Mathematics to calculate correct amounts of materials Significant responsibility for the care, condition, and use of mechanical materials, equipment, tools, etc. Communicate effectively and verbally and in writing. Ability to use a variety of hand tools and equipment including all department trucks, backhoes, front-end loaders, trenchers, snow plow, snow removal and de-icing equipment, sweepers, and mowers. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Available to perform "on call, as needed" for after hour maintenance services Preferred Requirements Certified Playground Safety Inspector Certification. Experience working in local municipal government. Experience in the construction trades. CPR/AED certification.

Tasks require the ability to exert moderate, though not constant physical effort, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of heavy objects (approx. 50 lbs.)
Sensory Requirements:
Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sound, odor, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.

Pay:
