ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Preventative maintenance:

Conduct routine inspections of building systems like electrical panels, plumbing fixtures, HVAC units, and fire safety equipment to identify potential issues and perform necessary preventative maintenance.

Repairing issues:

Address maintenance requests promptly and ensure emergency requests are handled expeditiously.

Basic carpentry:

Performing minor carpentry tasks like replacing damaged wood trim, fixing loose boards, making simple furniture repairs, perform wall repairs and preparation for painting and paint damaged/repaired surfaces.

Plumbing maintenance:

Performs routine repairs and maintenance on plumbing fixtures, such as valves, fixtures and toilets.

Electrical maintenance:

Replacing light bulbs, fixing faulty outlets, and addressing minor electrical issues.

Cleaning and upkeep:

General maintenance of all common areas to ensure overall cleanliness throughout facilities.

Grounds maintenance:

Depending on the role, may include tasks like mowing lawns, trimming hedges, and removing debris around facility grounds.

Inventory management:

Maintaining a stock of necessary maintenance supplies and tools.

Reporting and documentation:

Logging maintenance activities, documenting repairs, and reporting any significant issues to supervisors. Contractor Coordination - Contact contractors to obtain bids for maintenance and repair services and oversee outside contractors to ensure work is preformed to City standards.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Technical skills: Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems, carpentry, and general building maintenance practices.

Hand tools proficiency:

Ability to use a variety of hand tools like screwdrivers, wrenches, drills, hammers, and measuring tools.

Problem-solving skills:

Ability to diagnose issues, identify root causes, and find effective solutions to maintenance problems.

Physical ability:

Capability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in various physical positions.

Attention to detail:

Ability to thoroughly inspect building systems and identify potential issues before they become major problems.

Customer service skills:

Responding to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner. Must comply with all Federal, State and Local Regulations for safety procedures. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening, physical and background check. Previous work experience in a Buildings & Facilities Maintenance or Public Works environment (preferred). Must be able to work in an individual or team environment, as well as, take orders from superiors.

Physical Demands:

Must be capable of lifting and/or moving at least 50-100lbs, in either an individual or group setting. Walking on uneven surfaces; use of power and hand tools; constant bending; frequent climbing; hear oral instructions; speak to other workers; work in confined spaces Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

$29.73 - $32.16 per hour
