Job Description

CDL-A Fleet Assistant /
Yard & Maintenance Coordinator Location:
Oswego, IL We are looking for a hands-on CDL-A professional to assist our Fleet Manager with the daily operation and readiness of our truck fleet. This is not an OTR driving position and not a full-time diesel mechanic position . We need someone who understands trucks, can safely operate Class A equipment, and can help keep our fleet ready for drivers.
Responsibilities:
Move trucks and trailers between company yards and repair shops Conduct road tests and driving evaluations with new CDL-A drivers Inspect and prepare assigned trucks before new drivers arrive Make sure trucks are clean, operational, and ready for dispatch Identify mechanical problems and communicate with repair shops Coordinate truck repairs and preventive maintenance Drop off and pick up equipment from outside repair facilities Verify completed repairs Perform basic troubleshooting and minor repairs when appropriate Track truck status, availability, and maintenance needs Assist the Fleet Manager with day-to-day fleet operations
Requirements:
Valid CDL Class A Current DOT Medical Card Tractor-trailer driving experience Good understanding of semi-truck mechanical systems and repairs Ability to perform pre-trip/post-trip inspections Clean and safe driving record Reliable and organized Comfortable working both in the yard and on a computer/phone Previous fleet, diesel shop, yard, or trucking maintenance experience strongly preferred Ideal candidate: Former CDL-A driver, diesel mechanic with a CDL-A, fleet maintenance coordinator, shop/yard supervisor, or experienced truck driver with strong mechanical knowledge.
Pay:
$1,500.00 - $2,000.00 per week
