Holy Cross, South Bend - Director of Building and Grounds Diocesan MZ Services of Fort Wayne South Bend, IN Job Details Full-time 1 day ago Qualifications Driver's License Full Job Description The Director of Buildings and Grounds for Holy Cross School and Parish is responsible for the overall maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and repair of our campus's multiple buildings, residences, athletic and recreational spaces, and gathering areas that support worship, education, and community life. The Director of Buildings and Grounds plays a vital leadership role in ensuring that these facilities remain safe, welcoming, attractive, and fully operational while supporting the mission of Holy Cross Parish and School. This position works collaboratively with parish and school leadership, manages a custodial team of four, oversees outside contractors, and supports the daily operation of the school by maintaining a safe, orderly, and welcoming environment and responding to urgent maintenance issues. This position is primarily Monday-Friday with flexibility required for occasional evening and weekend duties. To receive a full job description, contact the parish office at Experience in facilities management, building maintenance, custodial services, school operations, or related fields preferred. Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred. Working knowledge of building systems including HVAC/steam boilers, plumbing, electrical, and general repairs. Ability to interact with students (PreK - Grade 8), parents, and parishioners in a positive, respectful, and consistent manner. (Our school's two-way Spanish immersion program has students, parents, and staff whose first language is Spanish and will sometimes use a phone translation program to communicate.) Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and respond effectively to urgent operational or maintenance needs. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with parish and school leadership and staff, residents, volunteers and contractors. Basic computer and administrative skills. Valid driver's license required. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull maintenance equipment and supplies. Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and perform physical labor regularly. Ability to interact with students and remain active throughout the school day. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
