Job Description
The City of Independence will accept applications at Express Employment, 2009 North Penn Avenue for a Maintenance I position for work at the Park and Zoo. Alternately, applicants may also apply online at www.expresspros.com/independenceks/ . Basic Function Under supervision, repairs, cleans, and maintains park and zoo grounds and facilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Drives maintains and repairs playground equipment, carousel, and miniature train Performs equipment and vehicle inspections Operates and drives a variety of light and heavy equipment as directed Maintains and repairs all park buildings and restroom facilities Assists with landscaping duties such as mowing, trimming and gardening Performs additional duties as assigned Qualifications Ability to perform manual labor related to maintenance and repair of buildings and recreational equipment Ability to work in extreme temperatures and consistently lift over fifty pounds Knowledge of simple hand tools Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and directions Education and Experience Completion of high school or GED required One year experience performing manual labor preferred Special Requirements A current Kansas driver's license Must be available to work nights, overtime, and weekends Physical Requirements Primarily moderate to occasional intense physical effort is required. Individual must be able to sit, carry, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, grasp, speak, and listen for extended periods of time.
