The Street Maintenance Worker I performs entry level, semi-skilled work in the inspection, construction, maintenance and repair of the city's streets, sidewalks, alleys, medians, curbs and gutters. They complete a wide variety of duties, such as hand excavation, heavy lifting, hauling materials, operating tools and heavy equipment, etc., as part of a larger crew. This job is the first level of a three-level career progression of Street Maintenance Worker I, II, and III. Key Responsibilities Performs construction and maintenance activities including concrete and asphalt removal, prep and finishing, crack seal prep and placement, poly-foam leveling, pothole repairs; participates in winter snow and ice maintenance operations; follows established procedures to repair distressed areas in streets, sidewalks, alleyways, and gutters. Operates a variety of specialty equipment and vehicles to complete construction and maintenance activities including trucks, snowplows, salt spreader, and hand and power tools. Maintains a safe job site and work environment by ensuring proper traffic control and safety standards as required by City, County, State and Federal regulations. Performs emergency duties, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime hours as required; may work modified hours as needed.
