Hourly Pay Rate:
$18-$21.00/hour
POSITION SUMMARY
Employees in this class perform a variety of maintenance and construction tasks requiring job skills and use of automotive equipment which requires considerable skill. Work is performed under general supervision of Department Head and is evaluated for conformance to established procedures and practices.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
(Essential Functions) Occasionally operate City equipment; Incidentally work with or direct helpers; Perform needed maintenance work; Possess job related skills as required by their specific department; Must be willing to work on weekends or after regularly scheduled working hours when necessary; Must be willing to help in other departments within the City when necessary.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
Some experience in performing manual labor, semiskilled maintenance or construction helpful, but not required, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required. Will be required to attain certification, depending on the department, as required by State and Federal regulations.
Skills:
Thorough knowledge of the equipment to which assignment is made. The ability to make minor emergency repairs to maintenance equipment. Ability to follow oral and written instructions and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and associates. Requires a valid Kansas driver's license, and may be required to attain a CDL license depending on the department assigned to.
Problem Solving:
Very little problem solving exists in this position.
Decision Making:
Decision-making is not a factor in this position.
Accountability:
Employee is not responsible for budgetary control of the department and does not participate in the annual department budget process.
Supervision:
Supervision is provided by the Department Head and/or Foreman. Employee does not have supervisory responsibility over subordinate personnel.
Working Conditions:
Manual labor is required. Extreme weather conditions are a major factor in this position. Employees are required to work outside in all types of weather.
Physical Requirements:
Must be physically capable of performing manual labor as required by their job assignments such as, but not limited to, shoveling, tree trimming, climbing steep slopes, lifting and carrying heavy materials. For Consideration Please Click To Apply and Submit Resumes.
