POSITION TITLE
Maintenance Foreman
APPOINTMENT
Appointed by the Chancellor of the College upon recommendation of the Vice Chancellor of Finance and Administration and the Director of Facilities
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP
Reports directly to the Director of Facilities
POSITION SUMMARY
The Maintenance Foreman is responsible for coordinating and performing skilled maintenance and repair activities to ensure River Parishes Community College facilities, grounds, and equipment are maintained in a safe, efficient, and functional condition. This position serves as a lead worker over maintenance personnel, assigns and monitors work activities, provides technical guidance, and performs advanced maintenance and repair work across multiple trades. The Maintenance Foreman supports the operations of all RPCC campuses and assists in maintaining an environment conducive to teaching, learning, and student success.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience: Three years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus one year of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses plus one year of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
General Maintenance Coordinates and performs preventive and corrective maintenance on college buildings, grounds, equipment, and infrastructure. Performs skilled maintenance and repair work involving HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general mechanical systems. Repairs and installs doors, locks, ceilings, flooring, walls, furniture, fixtures, and other building components. Assists with minor renovation projects and facility improvements. Responds to routine work orders, equipment failures, and emergency maintenance situations. Maintains instructional spaces, laboratories, offices, common areas, and exterior facilities. Operates and maintains tools, equipment, lifts, and maintenance vehicles necessary to complete assigned work. Ensures work is completed in accordance with applicable safety standards, building codes, and college policies. Leadership and Supervision Provides day-to-day direction and guidance to maintenance personnel and assigned workers. Assigns work, establishes priorities, and monitors progress to ensure timely completion of maintenance activities. Provides training and technical assistance to maintenance staff. Coordinates the work of outside contractors and inspects completed work for quality and compliance. Assists with planning and scheduling preventive maintenance and repair projects. Estimates labor and material requirements and recommends the purchase of supplies and equipment. Maintains records of completed work, inspections, and preventive maintenance activities. Campus Support Travels between RPCC campuses to perform maintenance and oversee projects. Assists with campus events, commencements, and special activities requiring facility setup and support. Participates in emergency preparedness activities and responds to facility emergencies as needed. Promotes a safe working environment and ensures compliance with OSHA requirements and institutional safety procedures. Other Duties as Assigned.
