Veterans Home Opening Date 08/21/2026 Closing Date Continuous About this Job Our mission of the Louisiana Veterans Homes is to serve the Veteran population of Louisiana through the provision of services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. Join the State of Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Home, where you'll step into a role as a Mobile Equipment Operator 1 that this position operates mobile equipment and motor vehicles in support of transportation of our Veterans to and from their doctors appointments, maintenance, grounds, construction, emergency preparedness at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Home, a 156-bed long-term health care facility. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties:
Work in the maintenance department , A 156 bed at a Long-Term health care facility that includes daily maintenance tasks such as operate appropriate buses or other vehicles to transport residents when assigned. Transport residents to and from activities, appointments, outings, or other authorized destinations. Assist with, safe loading and unloading of residents, consistent with facility procedures. Operates buses , with 12 to 25 passenger capacity. Transport approximately 125 -150 appointments per month. Assist maintenance personnel with moving equipment and materials. Operate equipment during construction, repair, renovation, or grounds projects. Required transportation , drive during emergency preparedness evacuations of resident to and from host facilities. Reports resident complaints and incidents , collaborating with you Facility Maintenance Manager 2 to ensure all complaints and incidents are properly handled. Safety , maintain a safe, clean and effective work environment for residents and employees.
