BUILDING MAINTENANCE WORKER I

(2nd Shift Custodial Position)

ALLEGANY COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS SUMMARY

This is a manual labor position. An employee in this class cleans office buildings and similar facilities and assists with other general maintenance activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or equivalent, some housekeeping and/or maintenance experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Possession of a valid Driver's License. Eligibility for coverage under the County's motor vehicle insurance policy. Must be able to pass the prescribed physical for this position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must have working knowledge of: cleaning equipment; the rules of safety and accident prevention; cleaning materials, both liquid and paste; and other related items commonly used in cleaning of offices and public buildings. Must be willing and able to learn to operate a buffing machine and other related equipment. Ability to gain access to and work in and around tightly spaced equipment, lift and position equipment weighing up to 100 pounds, and to work in inclement weather and under adverse work-site conditions. (A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. SALARY AND BENEFITS

This is a Part-Time Contractual position with an hourly rate $17.45 to $25.31 Part-time positions receive limited benefits.
