Job Description

GENERAL SCOPE
The Facilities Maintenance staff are responsible for the general maintenance and up-keep of all agency properties (owned or leased if applicable). The Maintenance work is conducted under the direct supervision of the Facilities Manager and overall guidance from the Executive Director. All activities are conducted in accordance with and adherence to all agency policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or its equivalent.
  • One year of experience paralleling the major duties of the job.
  • Experience in industrial or commercial cleaning preferred.
  • Experience in general maintenance such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, etc., and use of applicable tools preferred.
  • Possess basic oral and written and communication skills, including ability to read and write legibly, understand assembly instructions and general building maintenance manuals.
  • Proficient and safe operation of hand and power tools such as, but not limited to, hammers, circular saw, gas-powered tools (hedge trimmer, weed trimmer, etc.), drills, etc.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Must complete a satisfactory Criminal Background Check within timeframe established by the program.
  • Must be flexible and eager to accept new challenges, and have a positive attitude and outgoing personality.
  • Must pass a physical examination and drug screen by an approved physician prior to employment.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license. And a Department of Motor Vehicle driving record that meets the "Clean Driving Record" as defined by HRDC's Policies Manual.
  • Must complete Blood Born Pathogen Training within agency specified timeline.
  • Must complete OSHA training for proper handling and labeling of hazardous materials.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintenance:
Assists with loading and/or unloading supplies, equipment and materials, if requested. Maintain the overall condition and appearance of agency properties through grass cutting, general landscaping, collecting trash/debris, etc. Picks up janitorial and/or maintenance supplies as needed. Performs routine plumbing repairs associated with toilets, sinks, urinals and other varied water leaks. Collaborates with volunteers and temporary workers who are assigned maintenance duties. Attends meetings and in-service trainings as required by supervisor. Performs routine electrical repairs such as replacing light bulbs, fluorescent lamps and assists with the replacement of ballast and light fixtures under supervision. Assists Facilities Manager with the development and maintaining of each location's Preventive Maintenance (PM) Program and perform all assigned tasks associated with the PM Program. Performs 'as required' tasks such as repair doors, locks, windows, walls, floors, interior / exterior painting and other such tasks as identified by supervisor. Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor within skill sets.
Janitorial:
Restrooms
  • Cleans and disinfects sinks, countertops, toilets, mirrors, floors, etc. Replenishes bathroom supplies. Polishes metalwork, such as fixtures and fittings. Sweeps and mops floors as needed. Floors
  • Sweeps, mops, and vacuums floors using brooms, mops and vacuum cleaners. Other floor work may be required such as: scrubbing, waxing and polishing. Sweeps and mops floors as needed. Dust
  • Dusts furniture, equipment, partitions, etc. Trash
  • Empties wastebaskets and recyclables and transports to disposal area. Other
  • Duties cleans rugs, carpets, and upholstered furniture.
Washes walls and woodwork. Washes windows, door panels, partitions, sills, etc. Cleans and maintains perimeter of the building and the parking lots.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a Union eligible position, with a half-hour unpaid lunch period. General work hours will cover 7 AM to 4:00 PM not to exceed eight (8) hours. Work schedule may be altered depending on facility/location needs. Must have the flexibility to work overtime and travel when operations require.
