Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Assistant to support the operational excellence of our assisted living community, The Residence at Eden Green. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of facilities maintenance, mechanical systems, and electrical work, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for residents and staff alike. The Maintenance Assistant will perform routine repairs, preventative maintenance, and assist with building interior upkeep while demonstrating excellent customer service skills. Responsibilities Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC units, and mechanical equipment to ensure optimal operation. Perform repairs on electrical equipment using schematics and technical manuals; utilize hand tools and ohmmeters for troubleshooting. Maintain building interior spaces through painting, carpentry, drywall repair, and general facilities upkeep to uphold safety standards and aesthetic appeal. Assist with plumbing system maintenance including leak repairs, pipe replacements, and drain cleaning to ensure proper functionality. Support HVAC system repair and servicing to maintain climate control within the assisted living environment. Use CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software to document work orders, track maintenance activities, and schedule preventative tasks. Supervise or collaborate with team members on maintenance projects while adhering to safety protocols; demonstrate leadership in daily operations. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations by maintaining accurate records and following established procedures. Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to residents' maintenance requests with professionalism and courtesy. Assist in maintaining facilities equipment including welding repairs, electrical work, and mechanical component replacements as needed. Qualifications Proven experience in facilities maintenance or related fields such as manufacturing or residential building upkeep. Mechanical knowledge with familiarity in programmable logic controllers (PLCs), schematics, electrical equipment repair, and HVAC systems. Experience in plumbing system maintenance and repair along with electrical work; experience with hand tools, ohmmeters, and CMMS software is essential. Knowledge of maintenance painting, carpentry, drywall repair, and general building interior upkeep. Ability to read technical schematics and troubleshoot complex mechanical or electrical issues efficiently. Supervising experience is preferred; capable of leading small teams or collaborating effectively within a team environment. Excellent communication skills in English; able to clearly document work activities and interact professionally with residents and staff. Certifications or training in HVAC systems, electrical work, welding, or plumbing are advantageous but not mandatory.
