Occupational Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Maintenance I position is to perform work involving routine maintenance and repairs of equipment, buildings, grounds, parking lots, landscape/ flower beds, minor electrical, and painting. Duties also involve special cleaning of safety equipment and salting the parking lots/sidewalks. Maintenance I is an entry-level position that provides on-the-job training in order to perform the required duties.

Role and Responsibilities/ Essential Job Functions:

• Perform work involving routine maintenance and repair of equipment, buildings, grounds, parking lots, landscape/ flower beds, trimming trees, shrubs, weeds, and trash removal.
• Perform minor repairs - including but not limited to electrical, carpentry, plumbing, painting, etc.
• Assemble, install and move furniture as needed.
• Ensure proper room set up for classes and special events.
• Rekey locks and other door hardware repair as needed.
• Perform carpet repair.
• Perform some parking lot repairs and salting the parking lots/sidewalks.
• Unload and load delivery trucks.
• Complete annual forklift training where applicable.
• Performs work according to standard procedure and by building's operational schedule.
• Must maintain a clear line of communication with management in deficiencies or defective areas within your assigned work area.
• Must periodically review job performance with an immediate supervisor.
• Other duties assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Must have knowledge of operation of tools and equipment

Required Skills:

• Possess basic computer skills, Google Apps, and the Facilities Management System
• Ability to work outside in all types of weather.
• Knowledgeable and proficient in computer skills, which allows for the use of computer related technology.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the College.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

The work involves routine maintenance and repair of various facilities, including equipment, buildings, grounds, parking lots, landscape, and flower beds. Tasks include trimming trees, shrubs, and weeds, as well as removing trash. The role also requires performing minor repairs, such as electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and painting work. In addition, you may be required to assemble, install, and move furniture as needed, while ensuring that rooms are properly set up for classes and special events.
