Duluth Mission Support Services Worker Position Description:
Union Gospel Mission Support Services Workers play an important role in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment for guests, staff, and volunteers. This position supports the daily operations of the Mission through facility upkeep, kitchen support, food donation organization, and general operational assistance.
Position Responsibilities:
Maintain general cleanliness throughout the Mission, including garbage removal, cardboard disposal, sweeping, mopping, and organization of common areas. Assist with outdoor clean-up and maintaining the exterior appearance of the property and the surrounding area. Complete post-meal dining hall cleaning, including table scrubbing and resetting dining spaces. Sort incoming food donations and organize items into appropriate refrigerator, freezer, and dry storage locations. Transport food donations to designated long-term storage areas, including carrying items up and down stairs. Assist with sorting and organizing donated goods and supplies. Wash dishes and support kitchen operations during meal services. Provide minimal meal preparation assistance as needed. Support general kitchen cleanliness and sanitation standards. Assist with basic maintenance projects and facility-related tasks as assigned. Serve as back-up for food rescue donation pick-ups when needed. Maintain positive and respectful interactions with guests, volunteers, donors, and coworkers. Relate compassionately to individuals experiencing poverty, homelessness, and other barriers. Follow all Union Gospel Mission policies, procedures, and safety guidelines. Support the mission and values of Union Gospel Mission. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Valid driver's license required. Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift heavier items with assistance. Ability to bend, stand, move frequently, and navigate stairs throughout shifts. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills and willingness to assist in a variety of operational tasks.
Classification:
This position is 35+ hours per week, non-exempt, PTO and benefit eligible.
