Job Description Dakota County Technical College (DCTC) seeks a General Repair Worker to perform general repairs, preventative maintenance, and mechanical repairs to building components, physical plant systems, energy management systems, auxiliary generators, college equipment, plumbing, and utilities. This position also assists with minor construction projects, remodeling, and related facility support activities throughout the DCTC campus, including the main building and Power and Chiller Plant.
Responsibilities include:
Make minor repairs and adjustments to plumbing, electrical wiring, HVAC systems, refrigeration equipment, and college equipment. Complete repairs to mechanical equipment and identify and correct equipment malfunctions. Repair and adjust furniture, shelving, doors, windows, locks, ceilings, and walls. Paint walls, ceilings, doors, floors, and equipment. Assist with minor construction, remodeling, and carpentry projects. Assist with various groundskeeping and landscaping duties, including mowing and snow removal. Operate and maintain trucks, tractors, and other grounds maintenance equipment. Assist with event setup and other campus support activities. Perform custodial duties as assigned. Comply with applicable safety policies, procedures, and licensing requirements. This position is primarily at Dakota County Technical College, but will serve as a back up to Inver Hills Community College.
Salary Range:
$27.24 - $31.34/Hour; $56,877 - $65,459 /Year Minimum Qualifications ( Must be reflected in application). Knowledge of general methods and practices of a variety of trade areas (e.g. mechanics, masonry, welding, electrical, plumbing and carpentry) sufficient to assist licensed trades workers and to repair machinery, tools and facilities in a timely and safe manner. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety measures related to trades work sufficient to safely and efficiently perform the job duties. Ability to safely use hand and power hand tools. Ability to safely operate and maintain trucks, tractors, and other ground and road maintenance equipment. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to provide work instructions to unskilled helpers. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, carrying and bending. Physical Requirements Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, and scaffolding. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to move throughout work sites, including uneven terrain, stairways, and elevated work areas. Ability to position oneself as needed to perform maintenance and repair work in a variety of environments. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including material handling, excavation, pushing, pulling, reaching, and moving equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds. Preferred Qualification Possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Boiler License. Ability to keep simple records and perform assigned tasks with limited work direction. Other Requirements In accordance with the Minnesota State Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State's vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check. Work Shift (Hours / Days of work) Tuesday - Saturday; 7:00am - 3:30pm On-call rotation, call back for campus emergencies, and weather emergencies Telework (Yes/No) No.
