GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK
FLSA Status:
Non-Exempt, BenefitsEligible This position performs a variety of maintenance and labor duties to support the City of Waverly's parks, public facilities, streets, and utility systems. This position is responsible for maintaining safe, clean and functional public spaces while assisting with infrastructure repairs, equipment operation and emergency response activities.

COMPENSATION
Starting between $23.62-$26.44/hr. will determine on qualifications, experience, certifications, and skills.
QUALIFICATIONS
A high school diploma or GED is required. Candidates must possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License and be able to obtain a Class D Water License and Class SD Sewer Collection License within one year of employment or within Department of Health and MPCA regulations. Experience in public works, utilities, park maintenance, or related fields is preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This is heavy work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, shoveling, raking, lifting, and grasping; good communication; visual acuity is required for depth perception, peripheral vision, visual inspection involving small parts, use of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts at or within arm's length, operation of machines, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, hazards, atmospheric conditions, and oils.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONAL/TYPICAL TASKS
(These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. Ø Operate and maintain equipment such as mowers, weed whips, tractors, utility vehicles, pickup trucks, boats, loaders, backhoe, and other maintenance equipment. Ø Perform park and ground maintenance, including mowing, trimming, brush and tree removal, landscaping, mulching trees and brush, painting, facility upkeep, and seasonal cleanup. Ø Maintain swimming beach areas, including installing and removing docks, buoys, ropes, and floats. Ø Clean parks, public areas, parking lots, and city facilities, by removing litter, weeds, and debris. Ø Assist with street and road maintenance, including pothole repair, crack filling, snow plowing, snow hauling, sanding, salting, shoveling all city owned facilities and fire hydrant clearing. Ø Support the repair and maintenance of water and sewer systems, including responding to water main breaks, sewer backups, and other utility emergencies. Ø Perform routine inspections, cleaning, and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment. Ø Follow established safety procedures and properly use personal protective equipment. Ø Assist other city departments with projects and general maintenance activities as assigned. Ø Participate in a rotating on-call schedule and respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.
