Job descriptions:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated General Maintenance Worker for a long-term federal contract in Gulfport MS. We offer excellent union pay and benefits, a Monday through Friday schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on facility systems and equipment. Perform carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, HVAC filter changes, and general repair tasks as assigned. Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff or other departments. Complete emergency repairs as needed to ensure safety and continued operations. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders, and equipment status. Identify potential safety or maintenance issues and report them to the supervisor. Maintain tools, equipment, and workspaces in clean and safe working condition. Follow all safety policies, procedures, and industry best practices. Assist maintenance team members with projects as required. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent required. 2+ years of experience in general maintenance or a related field. Working knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, electrical systems, and general building repair. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to follow instructions, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively. Ability to pass any federally required background checks (if applicable).

Work Environment:

Employees may be exposed to: Loud or noisy environments. Outdoor work and varying weather conditions. Hot or cold environments depending on maintenance tasks. Chemicals, dust, or other irritants associated with maintenance activities. Occasional work in confined spaces, elevated areas, or mechanical rooms. Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation): Ability to push, pull, carry, and lift items up to 50 lbs. Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs or ladders for extended periods of time. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, and work in awkward positions as needed. Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely. Ability to work on uneven indoor and outdoor surfaces. May be required to use step stools, ladders, or lifts to perform tasks at various heights.
