Job Description

Position:
FACILITY ATTENDANT
The Facility Attendant operates the Zamboni ice resurfacing machine to maintain favorable ice sheet conditions and cleans all areas of the building. The Attendant also assists with skate shop functions when needed and interacts with patrons in a helpful, professional manner.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operates Zamboni ice resurfacing machine and edging equipment to maintain proper and safe ice conditions at all times. Performs ice maintenance duties within timeframe dictated by rink schedule to ensure rink programming remains on schedule. Performs regular inspections of ice surface and equipment and communicates any problems with supervisor. Changes resurfacing machine fuel tanks and blades and performs other light equipment maintenance or cleaning as necessary. Performs regular checks of refrigeration system and records appropriate maintenance logs. Assists with general rink maintenance activities such as glass cleaning and replacement, plus seasonal ice sheet installation and removal. Performs general custodial duties to maintain cleanliness of facility. Conducts regular locker room checks to ensure proper condition of locker rooms for all users, and sweeps and mops locker rooms when necessary. Empties trash and recycling cans in all areas and takes to dumpster or recycling shed. Perform other duties as required for general maintenance and safety of facility (including snow removal). Communicates any building maintenance issues to supervisor. Enforces rink rules and addresses public behavior issues in a friendly, courteous manner. Maintains knowledge of rink activities and provides information to customers. Assists with public programs admission and skate rentals as needed. Sharpens rental skates and/or patrons' skates. Open/closes facility by following rink protocols and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma. Current driver's license. Two or more years of work experience Ability to operate ice resurfacing machine and edging equipment (training provided) Capable of using a wide variety of janitorial supplies Knowledge of ice facility operations and maintenance is a plus Strong time-management and customer service skills. Ability to work flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays. Able to lift 50 pounds Current first aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire Safe Sport certification through USA Hockey or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position involves sitting, standing, walking, stooping, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling. Work functions are performed on or around an ice surface with mechanical equipment, which exposes the employee to cold temperatures and occasional high noise levels.
