Job Description

Installation, Maintenance & Repair Technician Key Responsibilities Facility & Structural Maintenance Build, erect, and repair wooden framing, structures, and fixtures; install moisture-barrier sheeting; mask and protect surfaces with tape and drop cloths; and apply caulk, sealants, adhesives, and coatings during general building upkeep. Mechanical Systems & Production Equipment Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair processing, packaging, and material-handling machinery. Assemble, dismantle, and reassemble equipment; replace worn or malfunctioning mechanical components; lubricate parts; adjust measuring and control devices; and install new machinery, heavy equipment, and attachments. Electrical & Electronic Systems Repair and replace wiring, circuits, fixtures, and equipment; install electronic components and systems and replace faulty components; inspect electrical installations for code conformance; check transformers for defects; and work safely with high-voltage apparatus. Plumbing & Piping Install and repair pipe, fittings, tubing, and plumbing fixtures; bend pipe and conduit; use pressure gauges and pressure-test lines for leaks; and apply basic plumbing techniques throughout the facility. Welding & Metal Fabrication Set up, adjust, and maintain arc and gas welding equipment; position and clamp workpieces and perform detailed welds using the appropriate filler rods; fabricate and install sheet-metal parts; and operate sheet-metal and metal-processing machines and tools. Fleet & Vehicle Support Perform maintenance and repairs on the facility's delivery vehicles, test-operate them before and after service, and inspect transportation equipment for damage or defects. Sanitation & Work-Area Upkeep Clean rooms, equipment, machinery, and work areas; operate cleaning equipment; and apply cleaning solvents in line with the facility's food-safety and sanitation standards. Safety & Inspections Follow all safety procedures, perform routine safety inspections across the facility, and monitor completed repairs and maintenance to ensure they meet required standards. Materials, Tools & Inventory Determine the materials needed for each job; requisition, order, and purchase supplies and equipment; move materials between work areas; and keep personal, inspection, and electrician's tools in good working order. Qualifications Proven experience in general maintenance and repair across multiple trades (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, welding, and light fabrication) Able to read and work from blueprints, work orders, and service or repair manuals Comfortable with hand, power, and pneumatic tools, and in both metric and standard measurement systems Working knowledge of ventilation systems and general facility infrastructure Able to lift and move heavy objects and work in refrigerated, cold-storage, and processing areas Strong safety awareness and attention to detail Ability to work independently, prioritize repairs, and respond quickly to equipment breakdowns What Success Looks Like in This Role Equipment, refrigeration, and processing lines run reliably, with unplanned downtime kept to a minimum Repairs are done right the first time and hold up under daily production demands Maintenance becomes increasingly proactive — problems are caught and corrected before they cause a breakdown The delivery fleet stays road-ready and passes inspection Work areas and equipment consistently meet food-safety and sanitation standards Safety inspections stay current and the facility remains in code compliance Tools, parts, and materials are organized and stocked so jobs aren't held up waiting on supplies
