Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated full-time Maintenance Assistant to join our compassionate care team at our long-term care facility. In this role, you will perform routine building repairs, preventative facility upkeep, and grounds maintenance to ensure a safe, functional, and home-like environment for our senior residents. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver who can balance technical work with a supportive, patient-centered attitude.
Key Responsibilities Facility Maintenance:
Perform minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and drywall repairs across resident rooms and common spaces.
System Upkeep:
Help monitor and service basic heating, cooling, and mechanical systems according to manufacturer guidelines.
Groundskeeping:
Manage outdoor property care including lawn mowing, trimming, debris collection, and timely winter snow or ice removal.
Safety Inspections:
Conduct routine tests on exit signs, emergency lights, and call lights while complying with OSHA and Life Safety Code standards.
Resident Support:
Safely assist with heavy lifting, furniture arrangement, and moving resident possessions with care and respect.
Qualifications & Requirements Experience:
Hands-on experience in general maintenance, hand tools, or trade work is preferred but not required.
Physical Demands:
Must be physically capable of standing for long periods, bending, and regularly lifting or moving up to 50 lbs.
Soft Skills:
Exceptional patience, empathy, and communication skills needed to work safely around elderly or vulnerable residents.
Compliance:
Ability to follow strict health privacy laws (HIPAA) and maintain confidentiality.
Compensation & Benefits Wage Range:

Shift Details:
Full-time day shift position featuring a standard Monday through Friday schedule, with an occasional rotating on-call weekend schedule for emergency repairs.
