Maintenance Worker I (Public Works) City of Anthony, New Mexico -

Full-Time Pay:
$14.50 - $17.28 per hour (Pay Band A2, DOE) About the Position The City of Anthony is seeking a dependable, hands-on Maintenance Worker I to support Public Works operations. This position helps keep City buildings, parks, streets, grounds, and public facilities clean, safe, and well-maintained. This is a great opportunity for someone who takes pride in physical work, enjoys working outdoors, and wants stable employment serving the community. Key Responsibilities Clean and maintain City buildings, restrooms, offices, parks, and public areas Sweep, mop, scrub, vacuum, polish floors, and remove trash/debris Perform routine groundskeeping including mowing, trimming, weed removal, and basic landscaping Assist with maintenance of streets, drainage areas, alleys, sidewalks, parking areas, and City facilities Perform minor repairs involving painting, plumbing, fixtures, doors, furniture, and basic building maintenance Set up and remove tables, chairs, equipment, and decorations for City meetings and events Operate hand tools, power tools, lawn equipment, and City vehicles as assigned Monitor buildings and grounds for safety concerns, needed repairs, or maintenance issues Maintain supplies, equipment, and basic work logs Assist Maintenance Worker II, Maintenance Worker III, and Public Works staff as needed Respond to emergency or on-call situations when required Perform other related duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required Valid driver's license required with an acceptable driving record At least one (1) year of janitorial, groundskeeping, building maintenance, construction, public works, or related experience preferred Ability to safely operate basic hand tools, power tools, lawn equipment, and maintenance equipment Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting, bending, standing, walking, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to communicate professionally with supervisors, coworkers, and members of the public Must pass a background check and drug screening Must have a working cell phone and be able to report within thirty (30) minutes for emergency/on-call situations when required Preferred Qualifications Experience in municipal public works, facilities maintenance, landscaping, janitorial work, or construction Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals, safety practices, equipment care, and building maintenance Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills Experience operating mowers, trimmers, blowers, hand tools, power tools, or light maintenance vehicles Benefits 13 paid holidays annually Paid vacation and sick leave Health, dental, and vision insurance PERA retirement benefits Stable full-time government employment Training and advancement opportunities Opportunity to serve and improve the Anthony community Work Environment This position requires indoor and outdoor work, including exposure to heat, cold, wind, dust, and inclement weather.
