Maintenance Supervisor Position Summary The General Maintenance Helper supports the overall upkeep and appearance of the facility, including both interior and exterior areas. This role assists the maintenance team with preventive maintenance activities, minor repairs, groundskeeping, cleaning, and general facility organization to ensure a safe, clean, and productive work environment. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, safety-focused, and capable of working independently. This individual takes initiative to remain productive throughout the workday by identifying and completing tasks such as cleaning, organizing, and general upkeep when not actively assigned to a specific project. Essential Duties and Responsibilities General Facility Maintenance Follow all directions provided by the Maintenance Supervisor and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner. Assist maintenance personnel with facility repairs, preventive maintenance activities, and special projects. Maintain cleanliness and organization in maintenance shops, tool storage areas, and supply rooms. Remain productive during downtime by identifying and completing needed tasks such as cleaning, organizing, or minor upkeep projects. Identify, communicate, and help correct safety hazards throughout the facility. Assist with spill response and urgent maintenance needs as required. Support preventive maintenance programs and facility improvement initiatives. Promote a team-focused work environment and demonstrate a willingness to assist wherever needed. Exterior and Grounds Maintenance Maintain building exterior areas, including entrances, walkways, parking lots, and surrounding grounds. Operate a boom lift when required to clean windows and perform elevated exterior maintenance tasks. Collect and dispose of trash and ensure waste containers are properly maintained. Assist with irrigation system inspections, troubleshooting, and basic repairs. Maintain landscaping areas to prevent overgrowth and ensure safe building access. Keep facility grounds, exterior walls, and common outdoor areas clean, organized, and presentable. Interior Building Maintenance Support the upkeep and functionality of interior facility areas. Perform basic maintenance tasks, minor repairs, cleaning, and organization as assigned. Repair and maintain items such as air hoses, water hoses, and other basic facility equipment. Maintain safe, clean, and organized walkways, maintenance areas, and common spaces. Support compliance with all facility safety programs and policies. Qualifications Required Qualifications Basic experience in facility maintenance, groundskeeping, construction, or general labor. Ability to safely use hand tools and perform minor repairs. Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety. Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision. Ability to proactively identify tasks and remain productive throughout the workday. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and business needs. Preferred Qualifications Experience operating boom lifts or other aerial lift equipment. Experience with irrigation systems and basic grounds maintenance. General knowledge of preventive maintenance practices. OSHA or other relevant safety training certifications. Working Conditions Industrial work environment with exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens, requiring proper training and personal protective equipment (PPE). Noise levels may range from moderate to loud. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform physical work throughout the shift. Ability to frequently use hands and tools to perform maintenance activities. Ability to lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 25 pounds on a regular basis. Ability to work at heights when operating lifts or performing elevated maintenance tasks. Ability to safely perform repetitive physical activities throughout the workday.
