Site & Support Services Position:
Safety, Security & Facilities Monitor Albany Academy is seeking a dependable and observant Safety, Security & Facilities Monitor to support the safety, security, and daily operation of our campus during the afternoon and evening hours. This position serves as an important on-campus presence after normal daytime operations. The primary responsibility is to monitor campus safety and security while also assisting the Site & Support Services team with routine facility observations, reporting, and light maintenance tasks. Primary Responsibilities Maintain a visible presence throughout campus and monitor buildings and grounds for safety and security concerns. Conduct routine interior and exterior rounds of campus facilities. Monitor doors, entrances, common areas, parking areas, and other designated locations. Identify and report unsafe conditions, security concerns, property damage, maintenance deficiencies, or unusual activity. Complete daily safety, security, and facilities reports for review by the Site & Support Services team. Document maintenance items requiring attention so they can be addressed by the maintenance staff the following day. Perform minor maintenance tasks when appropriate, such as changing light bulbs, checking fixtures, replacing simple hardware, and addressing other basic facility needs. Observe and report issues involving lighting, plumbing, doors, locks, HVAC conditions, grounds, and general building conditions. Assist with basic building opening, closing, and securing procedures as assigned. Respond appropriately to incidents and communicate with Academy leadership, maintenance personnel, security personnel, or emergency services when necessary. Assist faculty, staff, students, visitors, and outside vendors when appropriate. Maintain clear, accurate, and professional documentation of incidents and facility concerns. Qualifications The ideal candidate will be dependable, responsible, observant, and comfortable working independently. Candidates should possess good judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to recognize both safety concerns and basic facility maintenance needs. Basic mechanical or maintenance experience is preferred but not required. The position does not require advanced trade skills; however, the successful candidate should be comfortable performing simple maintenance tasks and identifying conditions that require follow-up by maintenance personnel or outside contractors. The successful candidate must be able to walk the campus regularly, navigate stairs, perform routine physical tasks, and respond appropriately to changing situations during the shift. This position is ideal for an individual who takes pride in maintaining a safe, secure, clean, and well-maintained campus environment and understands the importance of communicating issues promptly to the Site & Support Services team.Career Insights for Maintenance Helper / Assistant
