Job Description:
Job Summary:
The Building Maintenance Helper plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, and visitors. Operating during the evening hours, 3:00pm
  • 11:30pm, this position ensures that campus buildings are thoroughly sanitized, organized, and prepared for the next academic day.
The ideal candidate must be highly reliable, capable of working independently with minimal supervision, and able to collaborate effectively as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
1. Routine & Deep Cleaning
  • Restrooms:
    Clean, sanitize, and disinfect all fixtures, toilets, sinks, mirrors, and showers. Replenish soap, paper towels, and toilet tissue dispensers daily.
  • Classrooms & Lecture Halls:
    Clean and sanitize whiteboards/chalkboards, student desks, podiums, and high-touch surfaces. Arrange classroom furniture back to its standard layout.
  • Cafeteria & Dining Areas:
    Clean and sanitize dining tables, chairs, countertops, and service lines. Sweep and mop dining room floors, including Saturday's. 2. Waste & Recycling Management
  • Empty all trash receptacles in classrooms, offices, common areas, and restrooms, replace liners.
  • Collect and sort recyclable materials (paper, plastic, cardboard) in accordance with the college's sustainability guidelines.
  • Transport all waste and recycling to designated central campus dumpsters or compactors safely. 3. Event Support & Setup
  • Perform room and furniture setups for campus events, conferences, and meetings based on provided layout diagrams (arranging tables, chairs, staging, etc.).
  • Breakdown and clean event setups and return spaces to their original configuration post-event. 4. Floor & Surface Maintenance
  • Sweep, dust-mop, and wet-mop hard surface floors.
  • Vacuum carpeted areas, entry mats, and hallways.
  • Stripping and Sealing Floors in hallways, classrooms and offices.
Requirements:
Experience:
One year of experience in ordinary manual labor Previous commercial cleaning or custodial experience preferred (especially in an institutional, school, or hospital setting) but not required
Required Work Style:
Demonstrated ability to work independently with high attention to detail, as well as collaboratively within a team environment on large-scale campus projects
Schedule Flexibility:
Must be available and willing to work mandatory or voluntary overtime on weekends to support major campus events, athletic games, and graduation ceremonies
Physical Demands:
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods; lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. regularly, and perform repetitive bending, reaching, and stretching

Salary:
$39,456 (2026 base pay rate)
