The General Maintenance Worker position requires practical skill and knowledge in HVAC. GMW's primary responsibilities include performing general maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repairs of HVAC systems. Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate. Inspect, operate, or test equipment to diagnose malfunctions. Adjust functional parts of devices or control instruments, using hand tools. Align and balance new equipment after installation Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work. Inspect buildings following a checklist. Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts using hand tools and power tools. Order parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogs and suppliers, or obtain them from storerooms. Maintain inventory of tools and equipment. Practice workplace safety. Perform other duties, within or outside the assigned area, appropriate for the skills of the employee and the efficient and effective operation of EMI Services. Requirements High School diploma or GED 1+ years related experience and/or formal vocational/technical training in a variety of building and/or utility trades Ability to pass thorough background check for access to a military installation
