Maintenance Assistant The Maintenance Assistant supports the safe, clean, comfortable, and reliable operation of the long-term care facility. Working under the direction of the Maintenance Manager and Administrator, this position performs routine maintenance, minor repairs, inspections, preventive maintenance, groundskeeping, and room setup while respecting residents' dignity, privacy, safety, and independence. Key Responsibilities Perform routine repairs involving plumbing, electrical fixtures, walls, doors, locks, flooring, furniture, and facility equipment within authorized skill levels. Complete preventive-maintenance tasks and scheduled safety inspections. Respond promptly to maintenance requests from residents and staff. Inspect resident rooms, common areas, mechanical spaces, entrances, and grounds for hazards or needed repairs. Assist with resident-room preparation, furniture movement, equipment installation, and event setup. Maintain heating, cooling, ventilation, lighting, water, and other building systems as assigned. Perform seasonal work, including snow and ice removal, lawn care, and exterior cleanup. Help maintain emergency systems, generators, fire-safety equipment, and life-safety documentation. Follow infection-prevention procedures, including hand hygiene, personal protective equipment use, and proper cleaning of tools and work areas. Store, label, and use tools, chemicals, and supplies safely. Maintain accurate work orders, inspection records, maintenance logs, and inventory information. Coordinate with approved contractors and vendors when directed. Immediately report unsafe conditions, equipment failures, water leaks, pest concerns, fire hazards, and other emergencies. Follow all facility policies and applicable workplace, fire, building, health, and safety requirements. Maintain confidentiality and protect residents' privacy. Communicate respectfully with residents, families, visitors, coworkers, and contractors. Participate in required training, emergency drills, safety programs, and quality-improvement activities. Assist during emergencies and participate in an on-call rotation when required. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous maintenance, building-services, facilities, or related experience preferred. Experience in long-term care, healthcare, senior living, or another occupied residential setting is an asset. Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, mechanical systems, and safe tool use. Ability to recognize hazards and determine when work requires a licensed tradesperson. Ability to read instructions, safety information, equipment manuals, and work orders. Basic computer or mobile-device skills for maintenance records and work-order systems. Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record if driving is required. Required background checks, health screening, immunizations, and certifications must be completed in accordance with facility policy and applicable law. Pay:

$18.00 - $20.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
