Full-Time, 40 hours per week The general duties and responsibilities of a Street Maintenance Employee include but are not limited to the following: Responsible for, performs, and oversees all aspects of operation and duties pertaining to maintaining the Village streets, alleys, and Village property. Some items include sweeping streets, cleaning catch basins, snow plowing and salt spreading, fixing and installing signs, potholes, and crosswalk painting, and more as deemed by Village Administrator Perform repairs and maintenance on Village street and park equipment. Maintain accurate equipment and maintenance records. Compile, report, and maintain records required for the position. Work with contractors on Village projects as directed. Operate Village equipment as needed. Perform cemetery work, including digging and filling graves. Operate the leaf vacuum system and rake leaves along Village streets. Perform brush pickup throughout the Village and maintain the brush pile. Mow Village-owned property. Perform maintenance at the Village Pool, including checking and adding required water chemicals. Repair streets and fill potholes or add stone where needed. Perform tree removal within street rights-of-way. Read gas meters monthly. Assist with special event preparation, including setting up and removing traffic barricades and temporary signage. Set up and remove traffic barricades and temporary signage during emergency situations such as flooding or power outages. Maintain the Village storm sewer system. Maintain a good driving record. Obtain licenses required for the position or as directed by the Village Administrator. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Village garage, storage buildings, and storage areas. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
Ability to perform physically demanding work in various weather conditions Availability to work over time, especially in winter months Valid driver's license with a good driving record Experience in running construction equipment is a plus but willing to train.
