The City of Centerville, a "warm and cheerful" community with a population of approximately 24,000 located southeast of Dayton in Montgomery County has an exciting opportunity for the full-time position of Public Works Auxiliary Maintenance Worker. This position works under the direction of the Public Works staff, performs semi-professional skilled engineering work in the office and field. This is a part-time role with a schedule of approximately 24 hours per week.

Job Responsibilities:

Work under the general direction of the Public Works staff and apply knowledge of basic engineering principles. Ohio 811 (O.U.P.S.) field locating, tracking, and positive responses through online software and citizen and contractor interactions. Identify City-owned utilities and their supporting systems (fiber optic, traffic signal, streetlight lines, storm sewers, and irrigation systems), relate those to physical drawings and resolve conflicting data. Assist with construction inspection on various projects, including annual field inspections of different types (ditch inventory, detention pond, pavement evaluation, etc.). Interact with contractors, citizens, and staff with practical and positive communications. Perform maintenance work as needed under the direction of the Public Works staff. Communicate and track the use of the City's subcontractors to locate City-owned fiber optics, streetlights, electric services, and traffic signal facilities. Read engineering plans and specifications to perform field inspections. Keep documentation of daily checks, field sketch of changes to drawings, quality control of materials through visual inspection, and field measurement of bid items for various projects. Ensure compliance with safety standards, construction methods, industry standards, and stormwater regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma and equivalent. Prior experience in engineering or construction-related field. Strong organizational skills. Problem-solving skills. Basic computer skills. Valid Ohio driver's license.
