Job Description
Join Our Team! We are looking for a dependable, hands-on Maintenance Assistant to join our skilled nursing and rehabilitation team. If you enjoy fixing things, solving problems, working with your hands, and taking pride in keeping a building safe and well maintained, we would love to meet you! As a Maintenance Assistant, you will work closely with the Maintenance Director to help ensure our facility remains safe, comfortable, clean, and operational for our residents, employees, and visitors. What You'll Do As our Maintenance Assistant, your responsibilities will include: Assist with routine maintenance and repairs throughout the facility. Perform basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general repair work within the scope of your training and experience. Complete assigned preventative maintenance tasks and document work performed. Respond promptly to maintenance requests from facility departments. Assist with maintaining resident rooms, common areas, offices, equipment, and facility grounds. Inspect the building and equipment for potential safety hazards or needed repairs. Assist with maintaining heating, cooling, plumbing, electrical, and other building systems. Replace light bulbs, fixtures, filters, hardware, and other facility components as needed. Assist with room preparation and repairs associated with resident admissions, transfers, and discharges. Help maintain sidewalks, entrances, parking areas, and outdoor spaces. Assist with snow and ice removal during inclement weather. Maintain tools, equipment, maintenance areas, and storage spaces in a clean and organized manner. Follow applicable OSHA, life-safety, fire-safety, infection-control, and facility requirements. Assist with inspections and survey preparation as directed by the Maintenance Director or Administrator. Follow appropriate procedures when working in resident-care areas and occupied resident rooms. Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with residents, families, visitors, and employees. Participate in emergency preparedness activities and drills as required. Assist with other maintenance and facility-related duties as assigned. What We're Looking ForQualifications Previous maintenance, building services, construction, or handyman experience preferred. Healthcare, skilled nursing, assisted living, or long-term care maintenance experience is a plus. Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance preferred. Ability to safely operate common maintenance tools and equipment. Ability to identify maintenance and safety concerns and communicate them promptly. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Dependable, organized, and able to work independently as well as part of a team. Ability to communicate professionally with residents, employees, vendors, and visitors. Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. Must meet all applicable employment and background screening requirements. Why Join Our Team?
