Maintenance Assistant Responsibilities Cuts the grass and trims weeds on the organization's property. Cleans the internal areas of the buildings, including buffing, dusting, sweeping and mopping. Washes the windows of the building. Empties trash cans and consolidates trash for weekly pick-up. Paints interior and exterior walls and trim. Repairs parking lot and sidewalk asphalt, cold patching materials and concrete. Operates snow removal equipment to maintain parking lots and sidewalks. Maintains and repairs the building's plumbing and electrical systems; including replacing worn or defective parts such as switches and fuses. Repairs or replaces building's bricks, stones and concrete. Assumes responsibility for supervision of the department in the absence of the environmental director. This position involves being on-call. Requirements One year certificate from college or technical school; or 3-6 months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and training. Must have a background in electrical, plumbing, roofing, and carpentry. Good organizational skills required. Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
