Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and reliable Maintenance Assistant to help keep our skilled nursing and assisted living community safe, clean, and well-maintained for residents, staff, and visitors. This role supports the Maintenance Director with daily repairs, preventative maintenance, and safety compliance. Responsibilities Provide excellent customer service by responding efficiently to internal requests for repairs or maintenance issues. Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting). Assist with preventative maintenance, equipment upkeep, and safety inspections. Help maintain laundry and kitchen equipment, grounds, vehicles, and building systems. Respond to work orders and urgent maintenance needs promptly. Support fire drills, safety checks, and documentation required for regulatory compliance. Ensure tools, equipment, and chemicals are safely stored and labeled. Provide backup support to Housekeeping and Laundry as needed. Requirements High school diploma or GED. Experience in building maintenance or similar trades preferred. Ability to lift up to 50-75 lbs and work in varied environments. Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and general facility systems. Ability to read manuals, follow safety procedures, and complete documentation. Basic computer skills. Valid driver's license and insurable driving record. Strong communication and teamwork skills; enjoys working with older adults. Must pass background check and drug screening
