Job Description

The facilities maintenance assistant is part of a two-person team (working with and reporting directly to the facilities manager) to maintain the clean and efficient operations of the Company's physical properties, including structures and office spaces (both interior and exterior) and grounds at our Mechanicsburg, PA office. Applicants should reside within a reasonable commute of Mechanicsburg, PA. Local travel by Company and/or personal vehicle to other facilities is required; thus, a valid PA driver's license is required. While this position is primarily janitorial, a variety of duties/responsibilities may be assigned. Duties (May Vary): Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, parking lots, and other work areas according to an established daily schedule. Collects waste and refuse materials throughout building according to established daily schedule and disposes of materials in the Company's waste station. Performs lawn mowing (at the Company's home office and other nearby locations) using Company mowers and tools, along with related lawn maintenance/grounds-keeping. Performs snow removal from Company lots and walkways (and other nearby locations) using Company resources, including shovels, snow blowers, and vehicles outfitted with snow plows. (During the winter months, 24-hour availability is required as dictated by snow removal needs.) May perform minor electrical maintenance including replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g. wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.) using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools. May perform minor plumbing/maintenance (e.g., repair minor faucet leaks, replace hoses, unclog drains, etc.). May perform painting (e.g. prepare surfaces and use brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paint, stain, varnish, etc.). May move office furniture, storage bins, file cabinets, etc., throughout the facility, as called upon. Monitors/inspects building, systems, and facilities for wear, malfunctions, etc., reporting needed repairs to facilities manager. Performs other cleaning/maintenance duties as assigned by facilities manager. While this position is typically performed M-F during regular business hours, the assistant must be available to work additional/flexible hours when called upon (e.g., during periods of snow removal, emergency situations, etc.).
