Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Caretaker to join the Amtrak team. The Caretaker will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of train stations and related facilities. This role is essential in ensuring a positive experience for passengers and supporting the smooth operation of station services. The position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a focus on customer service and facility upkeep. Responsibilities Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of station areas, including waiting rooms, restrooms, platforms, and ticketing areas Conduct inspections to identify maintenance needs or safety hazards and report them promptly Assist with minor repairs or coordinate with maintenance teams for larger issues Ensure station facilities are well-stocked with necessary supplies such as cleaning products, paper goods, and safety equipment Support passenger safety by monitoring station activity and providing assistance as needed Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all visitors and staff Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with company policies Experience Prior experience in custodial, janitorial, or maintenance roles is preferred but not required Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with passengers and team members Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks that may involve lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods Knowledge of safety standards related to cleaning chemicals and equipment is a plus This role is ideal for individuals who are committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety in a transportation environment.
