We are seeking a dependable and hands-on Maintenance Assistant to help maintain our nursing home and ensure a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for our residents, staff, and visitors. The Maintenance Assistant will assist with routine building maintenance, repairs, inspections, and general upkeep throughout the facility. The ideal candidate has experience with general maintenance and is comfortable performing basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and other repair tasks. This position requires someone who is dependable, safety-conscious, able to troubleshoot problems, and takes pride in keeping the facility in excellent condition. Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance and repairs throughout the nursing home, including basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general building repairs. Conduct regular inspections of the facility and equipment to identify maintenance needs or potential safety concerns. Respond promptly to maintenance requests from residents and staff while prioritizing tasks based on urgency and resident safety. Assist with HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting to help maintain a comfortable temperature throughout the facility. Perform painting, touch-ups, drywall repairs, and other general interior and exterior building upkeep as needed. Maintain doors, locks, fixtures, furniture, and other facility equipment. Use hand tools and basic diagnostic equipment safely and appropriately. Assist with preventative maintenance to help keep building systems and equipment operating properly. Keep maintenance areas, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and in good working condition. Follow all facility safety policies, infection control procedures, and applicable regulations when performing maintenance duties. Maintain accurate records of completed maintenance work and report any significant issues to the appropriate supervisor. Work cooperatively with nursing, housekeeping, dietary, administration, and other departments to address facility needs. Help ensure the building and grounds remain clean, safe, functional, and presentable for residents, families, and visitors. Qualifications & Experience Previous experience in maintenance, facilities, construction, or a related field preferred. General knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and building maintenance. Ability to safely use common hand and power tools. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance requests and complete tasks in a timely manner. Good communication and teamwork skills. Dependable, responsible, and able to work independently. Previous experience in a healthcare, nursing home, assisted living, or similar setting is a plus. Why Join Our Team?
