N/A Job Summary The Seasonal Ice Maintenance Technician oversees the day-to-day operations of the Larson Ice Center during scheduled shifts. This position ensures a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all patrons while providing excellent customer service. The Seasonal Ice Maintenance Technician performs basic facility maintenance, enforces rules, and assists with events and programs as needed. Minimum Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver's license. Ability to perform heavy physical labor with weights up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for the majority of the shift. Comfortable working in a cold environment for extended periods. Must be a United States citizen. This position does not support sponsorship. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in ice rink maintenance. Previous experience in customer service Major Duties
  • (Essential Function)
Custodial Duties:
 General cleaning of the facility to include: back of house, restrooms, locker rooms, bleachers, cleaning interior and exterior windows, buffing rink boards and glass, cleaning parking lots, changing trash receptacles, and clearing sidewalks/doorways.
Equipment:
Operate and maintain ice arena maintenance equipment such as ice resurfaces, floor scrubbers, hockey nets, and cleaning equipment as needed.
Special Events and Projects:
Assist with special projects and events as needed, including setup and breakdown of equipment and facilities.
Safety:
Monitor the facility for safety hazards and report any issues to supervisors promptly, provide on-ice monitoring as necessary for open skate events.
Customer Service:
Provide excellent customer service to Facility visitors by answering questions and providing assistance as needed. Marginal Duties Attend training, seminars, and workshops as deemed necessary. Perform all duties in compliance with safety standards and policies established by the City. Perform other job-related duties as deemed necessary and additional duties, tasks, or responsibilities as assigned. Physical Demands/Work Environment (Essential Function) While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands and arms frequently. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision. Mental Complexity/Interpersonal Contacts (Essential Function) Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to use basic math skills. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Strong customer service and communication skills. Ability to follow instructions, and be able to work independently and as a member of a team. Courteous and positive relationships with the public and other employees. Ability to work with and provide exceptional customer service to the public.
